Brakes Catering Equipment, a division of major catering supplier group, Brakes, has confirmed it has had to change its workforce structure due to the impact of the coronavirus crisis.
The distributor is the latest in a series of sector companies unfortunately having to restructure as the downturn bites.
A Brakes spokesperson stated: “The catering equipment division is an important part of Brakes’ overall business and our goal remains to be a strong, resilient partner to our customers. As a result of the downturn caused by Covid-19, we have had to make some changes to ensure that we can continue to deliver a service that meets customers’ current and future needs.
“Sadly, this has meant a small number of redundancies. We understand how disappointing this is for the colleagues who have been affected, but would like to thank them for the fantastic contribution they’ve made to the business, their professionalism throughout this process and to wish them well for the future.”
Brakes Catering Equipment is headquartered in Leeds, with branches in Scotland, an innovation centre in Reading and a test kitchen in Covent Garden, London. Prior to this period, the distributor employed around 50 staff.
