Blanco Professional has ended its partnership with Amazon Business, just over 18 months since the manufacturer began selling its light equipment ranges through the portfolio.
Ingrid Mann, Blanco Professional’s director of sales western Europe/Americas, catering, was keen to emphasise: “For Blanco Professional, the UK is an important market in which we use various distribution channels. We will continue to develop our distribution channels in the UK and adapt them to the needs of our customers.”
Catering Insight also reached out to Amazon Business for comment, but the company has not responded.
When the relationship was first announced in October 2017, Blanco Professional revealed that its lighter equipment would be sold through Amazon’s professional division, including items such as trolleys and Blancotherm food transport containers.
The UK was the first country where Blanco Professional signed this kind of agreement. At the time, Stefan Deeken, global key account manager of catering, said: “We want to expand our business in the UK and we have found a partner in Amazon Business which will help us to do this. The UK is a starting point, and we will then look to roll out elsewhere.”
Simultaneously at that point Blanco Professional had signed up with Keith Elkington Transport for its UK stocking and logistics. Catering Insight understands the manufacturer has now reduced its inventory at the logistics specialist’s Milton Keynes base.
It is all change for the Oberderdingen-headquartered company, as UK sales will now be managed from Germany by Mann. There have also been reports the UK office in St Albans has been closed, while former sales director Ben Sherriff has left the firm.
