Nigel Quince, owner of Surrey-based JDS Catering Equipment has been honoured for his charity work following Cedabond’s annual awards-giving night.
Quince was the recipient of this year’s Bob McNab Charity award, which the buying group presents to one of its members every year.
Cedabond chief Phil Martin said that Quince has worked in the catering industry for more than 30 years and “fulfilled a lifetime ambition” last year by completing the London Marathon, raising money for Asthma UK in the process.
Quince initially started out as a chef and hotel manager before moving into the equipment industry, working for Hobart, Oliver Toms and Craven before joining JDS in 2003.
Martin also handed out two other awards for the most improved member and most improved supplier.
Dorset-based Carford Group secured the member award after a 38% increase in turnover with Cedabond last year led to its rebate growing by 42%.
RB Distributors, meanwhile, landed the supplier award. It has been a Cedabond member since 1991 and now trades with 98% of dealer members, said Martin.
RB grew its turnover with Cedabond by 12% last year, he added.
