Aqua Cure speeds along with rail contract

Water filtration supplier Aqua Cure has agreed to provide its new range of N-UV ultra violet sterilisers to Virgin Trains East Coast.

Two of the 24W versions of the stainless steel steriliser will be specified for each of the diesel fleet’s 15 catering carriages on the East Coast Mainline.

All water used for onboard catering appliances will be treated by the systems on the journeys between London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Leeds.

“The contract is extremely promising for Aqua Cure,” said marketing manager Richard Stephenson. “The successful introduction of our UV systems on the East Coast Mainline potentially provides an opportunity to quote for Virgin’s electric fleet when the contract for the supply of UV systems comes up for renewal soon.”

Virgin will be outfitting its fleet with the sterilisers in-house. When each carriage receives its next regular service at the Craigentinny rail depot in Edinburgh, the programme of internal upgrades will include the installation of the new UV systems.
