Nisbets’ founder Andrew Nisbet maintained his fortune at £500m in 2019, according to the latest Sunday Times Rich List.
However, this unchanged wealth total meant that he dropped from last year’s ranking of 251st to joint 268th in 2019 as others listed in the publication increased their affluence.
Nisbet is listed as ‘Andrew Nisbet and Family’ in the annual rating of the UK’s 1,000 wealthiest people.
He established Nisbets in 1983 and over that time it has become the largest catering equipment dealer in the UK, with its online business model raking in over £380m in 2017, though its 2018 results are due to be published by the end of June.
Nisbet currently serves as the company’s chair and is a director of Key West Holdings, which holds his family’s business interests.
The company’s customer base is spread around the globe, selling in more than 100 countries.
The Bristol-headquartered firm was acknowledged by The Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 in 2018. The list tracks the 250 top-performing mid-size companies across the UK which have achieved growth of more than 5%.
Nisbets ranked 48th on that annual league table, noted for making a significant contribution to the continued growth of its local south west England economy.
Following positive year on year growth of +18% and a strong profit before tax position in 2017, Nisbets climbed 10 places higher than the previous year.
