Court MD Andy Fitzwater (left) welcomed Alistair Kerr to the distributor’s board in 2019.

Court Catering Equipment’s commercial director, Alistair Kerr, headed into retirement at the end of last month.

After working for the London distributor as financial controller since 2003, Kerr was promoted to the board in 2019.

During his 18 years at the company he guided the Court team through the commercial aspects of some very large and complex projects, managed foreign currency exchange and delicate client relationships such as Le Cordon Bleu Paris, Yotel at Charles de Gaulle, Westminster Park Plaza Hotel and the Langley Park Hotel.

Prior to his stint at the dealer, Kerr had wide experience in the commercial sector.

Court Catering Equipment MD Andy Fitzwater commented: “Alistair had always planned to retire, even before the company was sold.

“He had moved up to Nottingham 8 years ago, with the view to doing that, but stayed on to help Nick Howe to sell the company and as a favour to me. He has stayed on for the last 3 years to ease the transition into Unitech.

“Naturally after 18 years, Court Catering is going to miss Alistair’s input into business and I will miss him both professionally and personally. However, Alistair and I have been able to recruit a very competent replacement with whom Alistair has been working side by side for the last 2 months to handover.

Court’s new financial controller is Claudette Patterson, who has over 30 years of accounting experience.

Fitzwater added: “Alistair’s dedication and financial experience has been invaluable to both company and to the management team. We wish him a long and happy retirement and look forward to the opportunities that the future will present.”

Kerr himself detailed: “After 18 years with Court Catering I can look back at how the company has grown and developed during that time and take some pleasure and sense of achievement in the part that I have played in that process.

“But, at 63 years old, when one can see the rocking chair and slippers beckoning in the not too distant future, comes the realisation that it is time to make a start on that bucket list and, maybe still, sow a few wild oats whilst I still can!

“I have enjoyed the years at Court Catering but with Andy Fitzwater at the helm, I can move on assured of many years success in the company’s future.”
