Airedale Catering Equipment and C&C Catering Equipment stole the show at CEDA’s annual Grand Prix Awards on Friday night as the pair each walked away with three pieces of silverware.
Chester-based C&C bagged the overall Grand Prix award for the Cafe Royal project it recently completed in London. Its work at the West End venue also helped it secure the ‘Profit Sector Large’ award and the ‘FCSI Special Award for Excellence in Project Management’.
CEDA judges said: “Although this was consultant designed, the sheer size and difficulty of this project, incorporating ground breaking C02 refrigeration and in a large and complicated building to most demanding quality standards, is truly impressive.”
Bradford-based Airedale Catering Equipment also celebrated a hat-trick of wins. Its project at the Co-Op HQ in Manchester — described as an “outstanding low carbon installation” by the judges — landed the top gong in the ‘Cost Sector Large’ and ‘Sustainability’ categories.
Airedale also pipped Court Catering Equipment and GS Catering Equipment to the title in the ‘Cost Sector Small’ category following the scheme it completed at The Outwood Academy in Ripon.
“This good-looking turnkey project by Airedale has transformed catering at the school, increasing meal take up and will be used as a template for other academies in the area,” stated the judges.
Elsewhere, the ‘Profit Sector Small Projects’ award went to CNG Foodservice Equipment for Betty’s Belmont Kitchen, while Whitco Catering & Bakery Equipment won the ‘Outstanding Customer Service’ award for its work on the Vita Nova NVQ training kitchen and restaurant at HMP Peterborough.
