Aggressive Lockhart bids to out-price rivals

Bunzl Lockhart has vowed to take a bite out of the competition after launching a range of entry-level crockery that starts from just 49p an item.

The company admits the “aggressive” move is designed to win business from operators that want the lowest available price on dinnerware.

However, Lockhart insists low prices don’t necessarily mean inferior products and is therefore offering a five-year edge chip warranty on the ‘Great White’ range that it is launching.

The set consists of 28 pieces, which are commercially dishwasher safe, made of super strong durable porcelain and compliant to BS4034.

Paul Nieduszynski, managing director of Bunzl Lockhart Catering Equipment, said research it conducted with operators showed they wanted a great quality range at attractive prices.

“We are confident that no other supplier currently meets these prices for an entry-level crockery range based on today’s list prices,” he said. “However, this isn’t just about prices, it’s also about delivering on quality, which is why we went one step further and included a five year edge chip warranty.”

The range includes coffee cups and saucers from 49p, stacking tea cups and saucers from 58p, jugs, pots and bowls from 73p, winged plates together with bowls and dishes from 74p, narrow rim plates and salt and pepper pots from 75p, couped plates from 99p, latte mugs from £1.18 and oval plates from £2.14.
