Lincat has introduced SmartVent – an affordable, modular ventilation system for gas and electric cooking equipment in commercial kitchens.
Designed in partnership with Lincat’s sister company, kitchen ventilation manufacturer Britannia, SmartVent extraction canopies have been developed to provide a comfortable working environment in fast food outlets and cafes, as well as smaller pubs and restaurants.
Each canopy is 1200mm deep, with four length options: 1200mm, 1600mm, 2000mm and 2400mm. Units can be ordered either singly or in multiples to suit individual requirements. Each is equipped as standard with energy efficient LED lighting.
Rachel Smith, Marketing Manager of Lincat tells Catering Insight: “SmartVent extraction canopies offer caterers a real alternative to expensive, bespoke kitchen ventilation systems. Modular in design and robustly constructed, they can be produced quickly to meet challenging installation deadlines.
“To accommodate DW172 requirement for a 300mm overhang to the front of the canopy, at a 1200mm depth, each SmartVent canopy is suitable for use with any equipment up to a typical 900 series, such as our Silverlink 600, Opus 700 and even the new Q90 heavy duty range.”
Smith believes SmartVent fulfils a need where a bespoke ventilation system would be too expensive, but where ventilation rather than fume filtration is needed for gas appliances.
The SmartVent system offers a variable speed fan which incorporates a powerful direct drive motor and can be fitted to vent either vertically or horizontally to suit individual project requirements.
The fan operates at 62 decibels – (“quieter than an average mobile phone ringtone,” comments Smith).
The fan is also positioned in closer proximity to the cookline than standard high level ventilation systems, which she says improves their performance, allowing the chef to maximise the cooking space beneath the canopy.
