Acme focuses on health and safety

Catering equipment distributor Acme is investing in its employees by ensuring they are Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) certified.

The firm is currently running its first IOSH managing safely course of the year. This is a national recognised qualification for managers and supervisors.

Acme aims to ensure that all of its directors, managers and supervisors are fully trained and IOSH recognised within the first 6 months of employment. Eight employees are undertaking the qualification currently.

Its commitment to health and safety starts at the top with one of its directors having worked to achieve Chartered Membership of IOSH.

Simon Mallett, commercial director of Acme Facilities Group stated: “We have a very strong commitment to ensuring that all of our employees’ health and safety is the first priority for all of our directors and managers within the organisation. Our current programme of putting managers through their IOSH managing safety is an example of our commitment.

“In 2014 we also committed to ensuring that all of our technicians have a recognised electrical qualification by the end of 2015, and all new technicians have attended a CITB essential electrical course within 2 months of starting with the company. These steps we feel will assist us in improving our health and safety performance further with the ultimate aim of keeping all our staff safe whilst working for Acme.”
