ABDA stars in film house’s £170k relaunch

ABDA has announced that it is working with Curzon Cinemas, the art house and independent film specialist, as part of a transformation project at its historic cinema in Knutsford, Chesire.

The Toft Road cinema is currently undergoing a £170,000 refurbishment that will see it re-launch as Curzon Knutsford at the end of this month.

The 180-seat cinema is the company’s first outside of London and ABDA is involved in developing the cafe and food area, in addition to parts of the interior.

Northampton-based ABDA offers commercial kitchen design and fit-out services, as well as interior design and branding.

The company picked up the job after Curzon Cinemas saw the work it carried out at the National Football Museum in Manchester last year, when it fitted a new cafe and restaurant at the site and designed its interior.

Rob Kenny, director of cinema development at Curzon, told the Knutsford Guardian: “We really liked what they did in Manchester, so we thought we’d use them in Knutsford.”
