ABDA demonstrates the art of refurbishment at elite London members’ club

ABDA specified a Rational VarioCookingCenter for the latest refurbishment of The Arts Club in Mayfair.

Commercial kitchen specialist ABDA Creative Design & Build recently led new catering refurbishment works at The Arts Club in Mayfair, which were completed in early August.

One of London’s oldest and most prestigious private members clubs, The Arts Club was established in 1863 to provide a forum for leading figures in art, literature and science, with a history of well-known members from Charles Dickens and Claude Monet to more recent members including Ronnie Wood and Gwyneth Paltrow.

ABDA was an integral part of the design and catering team involved in the original refurbishment in 2011 and having maintained a relationship with The Arts Club, it was appointed to develop the preparation space within the kitchen area this summer.

The kitchen design house was given the brief to improve the output and functionality of the space, as well as improving the performance and sustainability of the kitchen equipment.

In order to improve the working environment, ABDA increased the canopy dimensions and fan duty to provide a cleaner and cooler space for the kitchen team.

Project consultant Stephen Ryan said: “Since completing the original refurbishment project 6 years ago, the ABDA team have maintained a close relationship with The Arts Club. We were consulted straightaway as to any requirements for changes the client had, and this was taken forward with our understanding of the original project.”

Jasonn Reynolds, chief engineer at The Arts Club, commented: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the ABDA team for all of their help and commitment from start to finish on this project. They successfully managed to make this a stress free project with everything running smoothly, and our head chef, Jean-Luc, is delighted with the end results.”

During this project, ABDA worked closely with Rational to specify the correct VarioCookingCenter  multi-functional appliances that had the ability to cope with the large requirement of stocks and bulk prepared dishes, whilst also offering flexibility to support some of the mis-en-place preparation work from the main kitchen.

We are delighted to work in partnership with ABDA specifying the VarioCookingCenter 211+ and 112L models, of which we have carried out unit introduction training on-site giving the operators maximum benefit from Rational.”

ABDA also worked with ventilation expert Ventserv, along with Merseyside Catering Fabrications.
