May is set to be a month of milestones for Space UK, the parent company of Space Catering Equipment, as it sees its turnover top the £15m mark for the first time in this, its 15th anniversary year.
As well as marking the achievement, Space is unveiling a new identity for the group which brings together its service offers for the first time.
The rebrand comes at a time of growth for Space, having added both its first London office as well as manufacturing and fabrication capability in the last 18 months.
“In one sense, Space today is virtually unrecognisable from the business created by Mike Mellor in 2000, with full UK coverage and a wide portfolio of high profile national accounts, but at the same time we’ve worked hard to retain the values and culture of the business through this transformation, and most of the people who were there on day one, are still with the business," said Ian Bidmead, MD of Space UK.
“In less than a year after its establishment, the business grew to 13 people and turned over £2m, achieving an Investors in People award and a client list that included Greene King, The Eden Project and CH&Co (then Charlton House Catering) and Peach, businesses we’re proud to call clients to this day.
“Gradually things evolved, with Space going from equipment supply and design to adding front of house design capability, furniture, full interior fit-outs and last year, manufacturing with the acquisition of Holmes Catering Equipment Solutions and our first foot-hold in the North.
“Today, the group employs over 70 people and is continuing to grow as we take on high profile projects requiring full turnkey capability, particularly in the branded restaurant, pub and casual dining market where we’re seeing healthy gains,” he continued.
“We’re also focusing strategically on key account delivery and building a bigger sales team, to hit our ambitious growth target of being a £25m business by 2018. Our striking new identity, which brings cohesion across the group as well as our image right up to date, will also help our customers understand exactly what Space can offer,” he added.
This new look is already being rolled out across the business with new vehicle livery, uniforms, signage and literature alongside a refreshed Space group website which has just gone live.
