Northants distributor Whitco has hailed ER Moffat’s handiwork after using its bespoke foodservice counters in major projects it has been involved with this year.
Whitco won the sustainability award at CEDA’s Grand Prix Awards back in May for its work at Vaillant Group’s staff catering facility, and a number of Moffat counters were used during that project.
As well as creating a modern and spacious restaurant and self-service facility for staff, the brief for the project emphasised the need for equipment to fall in line with the customer’s environmental policy.
The curved counters from Moffat are made of wood, glass and granite, and include features such as high performance insulation and induction hob cooking stations.
They also incorporate technologies developed under Moffat’s ‘green thinking’ initiative, including energy-saving ‘Sahara’ fans, which save energy in bains maries, hot cupboards and ovens by blowing re-circulated air through heating or chilling elements. It is up to 48% more energy efficient than conventional systems.
“Moffat’s green credentials made them the obvious choice to supply the counters,” said Jeff Whitaker, managing director of Whitco. “But another big benefit of working with them is that they’re not frightened of ideas — they have the ability to take an artistic design and turn it into reality.”
Whitaker added that the counters had been positioned very carefully to prevent bottlenecks and avoid the need for customers to follow a trail.
