Welsh hotel of the year gets kitchen upgrade

C&C Catering Equipment has recently completed works at Ynyshir Hall hotel in mid Wales, voted the 2014-2015 Welsh hotel of the year.

The distributor was briefed with the design, supply and installation for the planned extension and upgrade of the onsite restaurant’s kitchen. Working closely with Gareth Ward, Ynyshir Hall’s Michelin starred head chef, C&C came up with a drastic redesign to completely eclipse the existing catering facility.

The contract was awarded last October, with building work commencing in December, undertaken by Andrew Lewis Construction. This involved the removal of existing walls, floors and the incorporation of a completely new area for the chefs table.

A new heavy duty resin floor, PVC and stainless steel wall cladding and suspended ceilings, were supplied as well, all of which was sequenced around the building works. Time was a major factor and deadlines were tight, scheduling all delivery, installation and commissioning of catering equipment in the hotel’s January 2015 shutdown period.

However the project was completed ready for the opening on 12 February, with the distributor carrying out inspection, handover and training on 6 February.

Along with the core building works C&C supplied the dish wash area, full ventilation system including supply air, extract and gas fired heating, Rational 5 senses 10 grid combination oven, a Falcon compact combination oven, a range of Adande refrigeration and Foster walk-in cold and freezer rooms.

The bespoke Athanor cooking suite with integrated induction allows for improved efficiency, precise temperature controls and a better working environment. The cooking suite was matched with a range of bespoke fabrication to complete the look of the whole kitchen.

Ward commented: “I love it! The design allows for a much more comfortable working environment for the team and the flow is excellent, this means we can be more productive. C&C has been excellent from start to finish and the project has been handled extremely well, I couldn’t ask any more of them.”

Joan Reen, owner of Ynyshir Hall added: “The kitchen is perfect; it’s stunning and you can’t get better than that.”
