Vision helps major garden centre to grow foodservice operations

Commercial catering supplier Vision has helped Pennells garden centre to deliver on its expanding kitchen operation which now sees a 400+ cover service restaurant.

The catering firm discussed an extension to the kitchen which would accommodate a new dishwash system capable of coping with the high demands of a 400+ cover self-service restaurant.

Vision had worked on a similar project at Barton Grange just 18 months earlier which provided an ideal example of the difference an efficient dishwash system could provide, according to the company.

Vision showed this system to Pennells and received a positive reference from Barton Grange’s executive chef on the much improved experience since its new machine was installed.

The supplier went on to design a system for Pennells which provided the flow and performance necessary to ensure that the new dishwash system was more than capable of coping with the high demands of the restaurant. The new system is now in use and is proving to be a much needed, efficient addition to the kitchen, Vision said.

Developments were made on the garden centre in 2015 with an addition in restaurant seating (up to 420 covers). This large expansion meant that there was a substantial rise in the number of meals being served; this therefore had an impact on the dishwashing system which was struggling to cope with the increased use.

Richard Pennell commented: “When we realised that our existing dishwasher and systems weren’t keeping pace with the increase of volume at our restaurant in our Lincoln Garden Centre, we spent a lot of time talking to alternative suppliers.

“Without doubt the team from Vision Commercial Kitchens was the most professional and helped us to review the alternatives as well as arranging visits to see the proposed machines in operation.”

Pennell explained how following the placing of the order the team at Vision worked “well” with builders and the installation of the machine went to schedule.
