US cookware icon launches commercial kitchen line

The founder of the US’s largest cookware manufacturer has announced plans to produce a new line of premium commercial kitchen appliances designed with input from some of the world’s top chefs.

Stanley Cheng, CEO of Meyer Corporation, intends to launch the Hestan Commercial line in February, targeting professional cooks and the restaurant industry, with a residential line expected to follow thereafter.

Cheng is credited with revolutionising the world of cookware with brands such as Anolon, Circulon nd Faberware, and he now hopes to do the same for the commercial kitchen.

Manufactured entirely in the USA, the line-up includes freestanding ranges with sealed burners, island suites, countertop equipment, convection ovens, griddles, char broilers, French tops, hot tops, plancha grills, salamander broilers, cheesemelters, fryers, pasta cookers and refrigerated bases.

It is not yet clear if Cheng intends to export the brand to markets such as the UK.

“The culinary world is the heart of our company culture,” said Cheng. “It was a natural progression for us to dive into commercial appliance production as the next step in our growth. Our main goal is for chefs to view us as a partner in their success—that they can enjoy and depend on our products on a daily basis for many years to come.”

Cheng added that the stainless steel Hestan Commercial line will be ‘purpose-built’ in response to the challenges that chefs experience on a daily basis, including performance, maintenance, energy use and durability. The range will be available in 12 different colour finishes.

Hestan is headquartered in a new 70,000 square-foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in California, which includes a showroom, test kitchen and certified test lab.
