Marine sector specialist Trimline has won a contract with Condor Ferries that will see customised catering facilities installed on its new high-speed passenger and vehicle ferry.
The vessel, which will operate between Poole and the Channel Islands, is due to undergo the refurbishment in January 2015, with the work lasting two months.
With no current galley provision, the Southampton-based outfit will design and install a galley on the ship to serve a self-service restaurant created from scratch.
Catering equipment, serveries, lighting and seating will all be specified and fitted to complement the Condor Ferries colour scheme. Electrical work and flooring will also be undertaken by Trimline to complete the refurbishment.
The high-speed ferry requires specialist materials which will see Trimline manufacture units from specialist lightweight materials to enable the ferry to stay within safe weight limits for operation.
Andrew Richards, CEO of Trimline, said: “All of the team at Trimline are delighted to be working with Condor Ferries on this prestigious project. It gives us a great opportunity to show how, by collaborating with the project team at Condor, we can deliver modern solution to address passenger comfort, catering and retail needs that will be both cost-effective and revenue-enhancing for the operator.”
Condor Ferries expects the investment to allow it to provide customers with a choice of catering brands, concepts and menu options. The ferry is due to enter service in late March 2015.
