Transport firm opens new West Midlands hub

Norbert Dentressangle has invested in a new national distribution hub in the West Midlands for expanding the logistics division that handles commercial catering equipment contracts among others.

The new warehouse at Brownhills, near Walsall, features 20,000 sq ft of fully racked high bay storage space and a 23,000 sq ft cross-dock facility with a total of 22 loading bays. It also contained an office area for centralised customer service staff.

The investment is a boost for Norbert’s Specialist Services operation, which works with catering equipment manufacturers such as Hobart, Electrolux and Blue Seal.

A team of over 50 drivers, warehouse operatives and administration staff will be based at the site, which was chosen for its transport links via the M6, M6 toll, M42 and A5. It will also be able to meet the company’s current storage and distribution needs.

Dave Finnie, director of specialist services and Red Inside at Norbert Dentressangle Transport and Distribution UK, said: “Brownhills will become the centre of excellence for Specialist Services and be a showpiece site where existing and future clients will be able to view our operational capability at first hand.”

The latest development follows on from the company’s investment in a new Specialist Services centre in Taunton, Somerset, last July and the opening of a new national pallet network hub at Crick, Northamptonshire in January.
