New Hoshizaki UK boss Steve Loughton has pledged to maintain the company’s strong distributor-led sales ethos when he takes the helm in January.
The former Manitowoc, Standex and Jestic man was unveiled as the manufacturer’s new UK boss on Friday and will take over from Glenn Roberts when business resumes in the New Year.
Speaking to Catering Insight, Loughton said he was very much looking forward to working with the company’s partners and championing distributor sales as a route to market.
“I think one of the things that attracted me to the business is the fact that I empathise very strongly with the way they have gone to the market and agree with it. I will certainly be seeking – in conjunction with Paul Anderson, who’s just been promoted to director of sales from commercial director – to continue the development of that, and I am looking forward to it. Paul and I have very, very similar views about how to develop that and we don’t see any change there, we just see a strengthening of those distributor or channel bonds.”
Loughton will be taking over at the firm as it looks to complete the full integration of the Hoshizaki and Gram businesses.
The company will operate as ‘Hoshizaki UK’ but the Gram name will be retained as the product brand for its refrigeration equipment. The Hoshizaki name will also be continue to be used for its ice machines.
Although he is taking over at a time when manufacturers have been implementing price rises and the uncertainty of Brexit has cast doubts on business decisions, he said was optimistic about what the future holds.
“I think we are in for a very interesting couple of years but I think foodservice is buoyant at the moment and we need to capitalise on the strong position in which we find ourselves in. I’m excited to be joining but the first thing for me to do, obviously, is understand the business and to become acquainated with the team and make myself known to them properly.”
