The Catering Shop Ltd sold both new and second hand catering equipment and refrigeration, with reconditioned kit being the mainstay of its business.

Established in October 2014 by Mario Bonfiglio Jr, the distributor even branched out into offering a service called Game Chillers UK – providing hunting enthusiasts with new or reconditioned refrigeration equipment to store fresh game.

The dealer also traded on Ebay as ‘thecateringshop2014’, although this account is now deactivated.

Paul Haggett, manager at insolvency practitioner, Irwin & Company, told Catering Insight: “The Catering Shop Ltd had to appoint liquidators due to a combination of lack of sales and the overheads costs.

“Its premises were probably larger than required. Three firms were offering assistance to enable a discount on the overheads but this never materialised.”

Catering Insight also tried to contact Bonfiglio but has been unable to reach him as yet.

Prior to starting up The Catering Shop Ltd, Bonfiglio was also a director at now-defunct Manchester-based dealer, Caterlink (Int) Ltd, between February 2010 and February 2015.
