Manufacturer Smeg has launched its first ever online portal for catering equipment distributors and those wishing to learn more about its commercial foodservice offering in the UK.
The investment follows a renewed focus on its commercial activities over the past 12 months. At the end of last year it appointed a dedicated business unit manager to lead the operation and honed its warewashing portfolio for the UK market.
Since then the company has grown its business with distributors and believes the new website will provide a resource for partners to access the sales and technical information they require.
Smeg’s commercial business manager, Phil Coulstock, said: “The fundamental priorities behind the design of the website were to showcase the brand on a platform that was easy to use and offered both current and future customers and distributors access to all of the relevant information and files to help them in making the decision to choose Smeg products.”
The site is based on a “responsive web design”, which means that dealers accessing it via a smartphone or iPad should have the same viewing experience as someone using a desktop computer.
Coulstock insists there is plenty of content for distributors to get their teeth into. “The clear interest for dealers will be the freely downloadable content including brochures, individual machine spec sheets, CAD drawings for all of the products and regularly updated news bulletins,” he says. “These features allow distributors to instantly get clear and precise information to their customers directly from site or their office.”
Smeg intends to add all future product launches and events to the site, including the pending launch of its new semi-professional dishwasher range, ice machines and side-opening Alfa ovens.
All of its cooking products are distributed via its exclusive cooking equipment partner, RH Hall.
