Scotsman solves space dilemma with ice concept

Scotsman has rolled out a new concept that it says will prevent operators needing separate machines when serving two types of ice.

Many nightclubs, hotels and event caterers use cubes for drinks and flake for cocktails and food display, which typically means two lots of ice machines, ice storage bins and services.

But Scotsman is seeking to make that arrangement a thing of the past after launching an Ice Duo system that comprises the MV306 dice ice maker, MF36 flake ice maker and the Follett 1025 ice storage bin.

The ice makers are sited side-by-side on top of the bin, sharing water and waste services. Both machines dispense ice into the same bin, which has a divider to keep flakes and cubes separate.

The divider can be adjusted so that if, for example, more cube than flake ice is required, the bin is divided appropriately.

“Nearly every venue has pressure on its space,” said Simon Aspin, commercial director of Hubbard Ice Systems, the UK distributor for Scotsman. “The Ice Duo is not only neat and compact, it also makes it simple for staff, since there’s just the one unit to go to for both flake and cube ice.”

The MV306 can produce 140kg of ice per day, the equivalent of 10,750 dice cubes. It can also be supplied to make the smaller-sized, half-dice cubes.

The MF36 can produce up to 200kg of flake ice in 24 hours. The Follett 1025 storage bin can hold up to 467kg of ice. List price for the complete package is £9,438.
