Rousing launch from Sous Vide Tools

The new Taurus Rowzer can puree frozen food.

Sous Vide Tools has introduced the Taurus Rowzer food processor that is designed to ‘micro puree’ sweet and savoury frozen ingredients in seconds without the need for thawing.

The unit works by placing meat, fish, fruit or vegetables, plus the liquid of choice, into the beaker and deep freezing to -22°C/-8°F for at least 24hrs.

When the food is required, the beaker should be attached to the appliance, the number of portions should be selected, from one to 10, and then the start button should be pressed.

The Rowzer’s blade spins at 2,000rpm, shaving off a micro-thin layer of the frozen food, resulting in a fresh product with what is said to have a smooth, creamy texture.

As the unit processes deep frozen foods without thawing, it should locks in freshness and flavour.

Ice crystals are said to be no problem for the blades, so syrups, crème anglaise, sorbets and ice cream mixtures are claimed to be able to be held longer than pre-made ones.

This should mean that they can be stored at a lower temperature, which could eliminate the need for a dedicated ice cream machine. Unused beaker contents remain frozen and can be returned to the freezer to be used later.

The unit has an easy-to-read LCD display, and comes with a standard blade and two stainless steel, 1l containers with lids. An adaptor kit for beakers is also included.

A cleaning function lowers the spindle for access, and a removable baseplate allows the removal of the container to cancel the blending function if required.
