One of the UK’s largest independent catering equipment suppliers is ramping up its fabrications business and it’s proving to work well so far. Catering Insight’s Joe Peskett visited RH Hall as it looks to increase the work its fabrications division carries out with distributors.
It has only been 6 months since Kevin Shepherd took the helm as general manager of RH Hall Fabrication Services. But he’s already making waves at the Hertfordshire-based outfit as it looks to invest in its factory operations, grow its profile, increase its association with distributors and build on the work that it does for major national chains. Behind him, he has 33 years of manufacturing and engineering experience and has worked with about 400 clients, including some of the world’s largest food manufacturers, whilst at the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS).
With such a large operation and with plans to make the business as much of a one-stop-shop as possible, RH Hall is keen to increase its work and association with distributors. Shepherd believes there is a lot more the company can do, particularly as it offers both mass production supply and one-offs.
He said: “We can work comfortably with any distributor with the kind of competencies we have got as RH Hall, not just as RH Hall Fabrication Services. If people want us to manage the install we know contractors that can do that and we can probably take on that part of the project as well.
“We can offer the complete solution, all the way from design and concept through to manufacture and even install, depending on what their business plan and model is.”
Many distributors have already established relationships with third party fabricators, so persuading them to work with RH Hall, which may not be every distributor’s local firm, is not a given. Adam Hall, bespoke solutions manager is fully aware of this.
