Contract Catering Equipment (CCE) has won its second project with Karam, Jyotin and Sunaina Sethi, the team behind acclaimed London restaurants Gymkhana and Trishna.
Through their business JKS Restaurants, the trio are turning their attention to a new venture called Hoppers, which will open in Soho in October. In an interview with Bloomberg recently they revealed that the concept was inspired by the roadside shacks of southern India and Sri Lanka.
Essex-based CCE will provide kitchen design expertise having previously worked with the company on the launch of Bao, their steamed Taiwanese bun venture. For that project, CCE completed the ground floor kitchen and bar and basement prep.
CCE’s performance on that job resulted in the company securing the order for the Hoppers kitchen. The deal adds to the number of high profile London restaurant kitchen projects managed by CCE.
In the Bloomberg interview announcing the plans for Hoppers, Karam Sethi said: “We think that the level of spicing and the style of the food and the ingredients in our Indian restaurants work. We want to replicate that toward the casual end and the higher end, across the whole spectrum of Indian dining.”
