Brakes Catering Equipment is preparing to shift to a new office and warehouse in Leeds in the early part of 2015, providing it with the additional space it requires to grow the company in future.
Brakes employs around 50 staff on the catering equipment side but is on the way to reaching capacity, so will shift to a new site previously occupied by its food division and which is only a short walk from where it is currently based.
Managing director, Ralph Grundy, says: “We are hoping that in January we will at least have moved all of our office staff over and then as [the food division] vacates what is a very sizeable warehouse, we will have the opportunity to stock more innovative lines and develop the business. We have got to do that before we grow it.”
Brakes Catering Equipment presently holds stock at various distribution centres, including those in Hemsworth, Leeds and the grocery warehouse the group operates. The aim in future is that all catering equipment stock will be centralised under one roof.
Grundy said the move would be a significant step for the group as it looks to expand its business: “We have outgrown the current location and warehousing, so we desperately need the space to grow and become a bigger, more important part of Brakes.”
