Record year at Fulcrum prompts investment and CEDA affiliation

Marlborough-based distributor Fulcrum Commercial Kitchens has posted a 30% increase in its turnover during 2016/2017.

This growth has allowed the firm to invest in new branding, additional staffing and the setting up of a live-demo ‘Granuldisk’ area at its offices.

Director David Burnett commented: “After 7 years the old logo was beginning to look one-dimensional and we needed to freshen this up with a more modern, clean design. Our van decals, workshirts, website and stationery have all been updated.”

With the increase in projects work, Fulcrum has also taken on a new driver and warehouseman, Andy Eatwell. Burnett said: “He has settled in well and released Chris Edwards to move away from logistics into project management. This in turn allows me to concentrate on new business, design and contract negotiation.”

He added: “We committed to creating a new Granuldisk live demonstration area following an ENSE factory visit earlier in 2017. Whilst this is not new technology to the UK, customer awareness of the efficiencies such a unit is paramount. This will allow us to show our clients first-hand the power and superb results achieved by the granule technology.”

Keith Broadway of Granuldisk UK has been working alongside the distributor to provide training and marketing materials but all other costs were borne by Fulcrum itself – flooring, power, drainage and screening and seating were all required to prepare the area.

Burnett reported that delivering the Granuldisk Smart warewasher up to first-floor level was particularly challenging. Per Capert from the manufacturer’s Malmo head office travelled over to Fulcrum’s office to help with the installation and engineer training.

After final tweaks regarding the critical factor of chemical dosing, the demonstration area was opened for business on 13 November.

Burnett concluded: “To round off an eventful 12 months we accepted the kind invitation to join CEDA, which has undergone an incredibly positive transformation under the stewardship of Adam Mason.

“This is now an essential affiliation for any distributor to have and it’s reassuring to have CEDA’s backing in our armoury.”
