Rational has announced that its flagship SelfCookingCenter whitefficiency system has gained the coveted US Energy Star label.
The company says that it is one of the first combi ovens to be awarded the label, which is placed on products that deliver high standards of energy efficiency.
Rational claims the latest SelfCookingCenter whitefficiency cuts energy consumption by up to 20%, compared to previous models, and up to 70% compared to a traditional kitchen without a combi-steamer.
The move is an important step for Rational in the US market, where the label is widely recognised by commercial buyers.
Energy Star was set up by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1992 to help businesses and individuals save money and protect the environment through energy-efficient products and practices.
The Energy Star label appears on over 65 different product categories as well as new homes, commercial buildings and industrial plants.
