Swansea-based catering equipment dealer RACS has installed appliances as part of a £140,000 refurbishment of kitchen facilities at the Ty Hafan children’s hospice in Sully, Wales.
The distributor provided all the fridges, freezers, stainless steel fabrication, oven, dishwasher and Rational combi-steam oven. The catering area also boasts a new store room and a separate domestic kitchen specifically designed to provide families with greater independence while resident at the hospice.
The kitchen was revitalised after 15 years in service and now offers opportunities for cookery therapy.
Haydn Jones, Ty Hafan’s business services manager said: “RACS has won the All-Wales Consortium contract for kitchen equipment, so I knew it would be the best value provider of the commercial equipment.”
Jayne Saunders, director of care at Ty Hafan, said: “We aim to create a homely atmosphere for our families which is why the new kitchen is a wonderful addition to the hospice. The refurbishment provides a positive and uplifting environment and the feedback we’ve had from families has been fantastic.
“The kitchen and living room area is a space for families to relax, providing opportunities for parents to chat together and perhaps share experiences. Families can use the new domestic kitchen to cook their own food, eat a takeaway or even just sit back to watch TV with a cup of tea or coffee.
“We are delighted with the new kitchen and we can’t thank our supporters enough for making it happen.”
