    We enjoyed our day at Hotelympia yesterday. However have to say the show seems to be getting smaller every time. I wonder if the regional shows and more specialist shows are being preferred?

    The enjoyment, relevance and value to the visitor is key.
    It was great to see the roll out of the HCR brand and the strategic developments for the show. The evolution to deliver a common brand across the portfolio is essential to ensure the equipment sector has the representation and visitor attendance that it needs. This will deliver the regional benefits and also the channel value to the exhibitor, through being more relevant to the visitor.
    Budget pressures mean that manufacturers are increasingly looking to use the key shows to deliver the quality and quantity of visitor that they need. This will increase the relevance of the HCR brand and the Professional Kitchen Show/ Foodservice Show/Interiors and Tableware Show and Hospitality Tech. identities. CESA, as the sponsor of the equipment community is fully supporting and assisting with this evolution.

    Unfortunately, both the relevance and value of Hotelympia continue to diminish for the visitor and consequently the exhibitor. The exhibition continues to shrink as the organisers stick to a flawed model that allows any visitor free access and subsequently the total cost borne by the exhibitors. Hotelympia is the only exhibition I know of in Europe that does things this way, as a result by comparison it is ludicrously expensive.
