Olive Branch Catering Equipment has been awarded ISO 9001 certification after completing a rigorous testing procedure to demonstrate that its processes meet the highest quality management controls.
Phil Alexander, founder and managing director of the Cambridgeshire firm, told Catering Insight the endorsement shows how serious the company is about maintaining the highest standards.
“It took us a while to get the accreditation as there is a lot of dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s, but it is a huge achievement.”
As well as communicating a positive message to staff and customers, the ISO 9001 award should help the company to set out areas of responsibility across the organisation and help it to identify and encourage more efficient processes.
ISO certification can also be mandatory for some public sector contracts, which is an increasingly important market sector for the company.
Olive Branch — which recently became a member of CEDA — is in expansion mode at the moment, with Alexander keen to strengthen headcount to meet its ambitious growth objectives.
“We have tweaked our business plan this year with the aim of increasing our turnover by 100% and that plan entails that we need to take on more staff,” he said. “The staff we require are going to be the foundation for pushing the company forward again when it comes to looking ahead to next year.”
Alexander is currently recruiting for four key positions: a project manager to install kitchen facilities, separate sales managers for the north and south, and an engineer.
