Nuttalls nabs foodservice equipment prize

Midlands foodservice display specialist Alan Nuttall Ltd has scooped a Science & Technology award for its flexeserve range of catering equipment.

The latest accolade, which follows on from its Queen’s Award for Enterprise for introducing hot air food systems to the market, recognises the company’s continued development of display products for the food-to-go sector.

Nuttalls has an annual R&D budget of £1m and develops and manufactures all its products at its state-of- the-art facilities in Dudley.

The flexeserve Zone, which is a unique heated multi-deck display unit with individually controlled temperature zones, forms part of an equipment line which includes a patented intelligent chassis counter system designed to offer maximum flexibility for restaurants, coffee shops and cafes.

“We invest significantly in innovation; we spend almost £1million on research and development every year and invest in new machinery and technologies to continually improve our products,” said Mick Steele, the company’s technical director.

“Our investment has given Nuttalls a significant advantage by pioneering the development of unique and innovative solutions to a dynamic marketplace, with increasing demand on energy conservation and sustainable products.”

Nuttalls was founded in 1966 and employs 600 staff including designers, skilled joiners, sheet metal engineers, project managers and product developers.
