Bakery equipment manufacturer Mono Equipment has created its first dedicated Product Innovation Centre (PIC) at its Swansea headquarters.
The temperature controlled PIC occupies over 225m2 on a mezzanine overlooking the main production area and is furnished with the latest design, testing and diagnostics equipment, requiring an investment of over £100,000.
This new facility will provide the growing team of specialist product designers and engineering staff at Mono an environment in which to conceive the next generation of equipment to satisfy the needs of an ever-evolving market.
MD Andrew Jones, commented: “We recognise that new product development is critical to the continued success of the Mono and this significant investment of over £100,000 will ensure we remain at the forefront of product innovation and design in the sector.”
The PIC is already being put to good use as the new product development team worked on the design of the firm’s new Universal range of confectionery depositors which will include new features such as a re-designed hard-mix wirecut system, two and three colour depositing and 3D-X multi-axes design functionality.
The team are also putting the final touches to the new BX Eco-Wash convection oven system which incorporates a new self-wash system which can be used to automatically clean the oven chamber.
The new Eco-Wash ovens are being offered initially as part of Mono’s new in-store bakery system which includes a cassette loading feature to enable 14 fully-laden trays can be loaded and unloaded quickly from the oven.
Both the new products will be previewed at the IBA bakery exhibition in Munich, Germany between 12 and 17 September.
