Mike Bridger has been immediately snapped up by Eastleigh-based dealer, HCE Foodservice Equipment, after being made redundant from his role as business development director at JLA-owned dealer, Carford, last week.
HCE said that there was much interest from the trade generally for Bridger, but it has managed to secure his services as project sales manager.
He is one of the latest high profile departures from Ferndown-headquartered Carford, as industry rumours continue to swirl that there will be as few as eight staff left at the premises by the end of October, a drastic reduction from a peak of 137 a couple of years ago.
Bridger detailed: “As a result of Carford’s commencement of withdrawing from the scheme side of the catering equipment market to concentrate on one off equipment, service, rental and maintenance, I am excited to announce I have a new role designing and selling project schemes for HCE Foodservice Equipment.”
He told Catering Insight: “HCE is a perfect match for my skillset. It is currently very active in the catering equipment marketplace and working on projects throughout the country in every sector of the foodservice industry.”
Bridger brings 38 years of experience to his new role, including stints at Airedale, Compass and Lockhart.
HCE’s commercial director, Steve Holley, commented: “Mike and I have known each other for a considerable number of years, more than I’d care to remember really – and mostly as a competitor to boot! So to get him on board is an absolute dream, as, like us, his specialisms are complete catering scheme projects. So there’s a natural-fit synergy which can only strengthen our position as our business moves forward.”
