Colleagues and friends of Middleby Group sales director Andy Walter are hoping to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research by entering next month’s Manchester 5 kilometre Colour Run.
As some people in the industry may already know, Andy was diagnosed with a brain tumour in March this year. This malignant tumour has been very aggressive and sadly at the beginning of May Andy was told he has six weeks left to live.
Wendy Cunningham, who works with Andy as sales manager for Frialator and Middleby, said that despite the deterioration of his illness, Andy’s heart, love and passion for his family and friends have remained intact.
“Despite the tragic news, the Walter household is a wonderfully warm and loving place to be,” she said. “We have been fortunate enough to spend a short time with Andy over the last few weeks, and the contribution of the McMillan Nurses cannot go by without mention. They have been truly amazing with their care of Andy and his family. They have played a major role in relieving the pressure the Walters have endured of the last couple of months.”
As a result, colleagues will take part in the Manchester 5k Colour Run on 21 July and Cunningham said that any donations from the industry would be gratefully appreciated. “No free will offering is too big or too small,” she said.
Andy’s family also said they wish to thank the Care South and Dorothy House Hospice Care at Home team for the support and care they continue to provide to Andy on a daily basis.
