Middleby appoints first UK ‘middle’ man

Middleby has created its first ever group-wide sales role to manage all of the brands that it represents in the UK.

Rob Gibson, who has spent 13 years with Lincat — which Middleby acquired 18 months ago — will now serve as ‘national accounts manager’ and represent all of the US giant’s entities in the UK.

The newly-conceived post will enable Gibson to offer complete solutions for catering and commercial kitchens, drawing on the product ranges of companies such as Lincat, IMC and Britannia. He will also handle brands imported by Middleby UK, including Pitco, Blodgett, Magikitchen, Carter-Hoffman and Star.

“My role puts me right into the middle of the group,” says Gibson. “Having the products of the whole Middleby group at my fingertips gives me unbeatable scope for creating kitchen solutions that are perfectly suited to the needs of individual businesses.”

He added that the position demonstrates Middleby Group’s “logical and streamlined approach” to business.

“It’s more efficient for clients, too, who can now expect to see just one representative who will sit down with them and gain a full understanding of their requirements,” he said.

Gibson’s most recent role has been as national sales manager for Lincat, where he was responsible for developing national account business with retailers such as Asda, John Lewis, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Waitrose and Debenhams, along with retail brewery groups including Spirit Group and Greene King.

The company did not say whether more employees would be taking up Middleby-centric roles in future.
