Metcalfe mixes it up in the kitchen

Metcalfe Catering Equipment has refreshed its product portfolio with the launch of the SM-5, a countertop mixer that it calls an “all round asset” to the everyday commercial kitchen.

The professional gear driven model has a variable speed DC motor that is powerful enough to take on light dough preparation and pastry work, mayonnaise and sauce preparation, as well as tasks such as mixing up crème patisserie, egg beating, and mashed potato and cream whipping.

The mixer head lifts up to enable the five-litre stainless steel bowl to slide out, while making it easy to remove the beater, whisk or dough hook tools that come as standard, according to Gwynedd-based Metcalfe.

Safety features include fully interlocked parts, an overload protection device, and a wire safety guard that allows the operator to add liquid to the bowl without risk.

At 410mm(d) x 240mm(w) x 425mm(h), and weighing 8kg, the SM-5 is small enough to sit on the counter top but powerful enough to take on a multitude of tasks.
