The North West of England has traditionally been a hotbed for successful catering equipment distributors and Blackpool-based Caterware certainly fits into this category.
Under the stewardship of managing director Mark Drazen, the distributor has gained a reputation for delivering high quality kitchen designs and installs throughout the UK, and remains an active member of CEDA. Indeed Mark previously served 12 years on CEDA Council and in 2000, became the youngest ever CEDA Chairman at just 37 years of age.
Established by Mark’s father Bernard in 1977 (Mark joined just 2 years later), Caterware has a team which understands that track records are built on going the extra mile, and as a result the company consistently strives to provide support to customers in every aspect of a project, from 3D CAD design to kitchen maintenance, and from the supply of heavy duty equipment to tableware and utensils.
Mark commented: “We have no institutional shareholder or outside investors therefore we can concentrate purely on developing our personnel and satisfying our customer base.”
Caterware supplies equipment within projects of all sizes to a variety of customers, but is best known for developing close relationships with rapidly growing medium sized high street restaurant and food service chains.
Mark stated: “We have no desire to be the biggest, our only desire is to be the best. This type of client needs our experience, expertise and abilities to add value and we can concentrate our resources and get ingrained in their business so we can fully understand our role in helping them grow and develop.”
Caterware is also very active in the ‘mega project’ sports stadia and arena market, having completed an award-winning £2.5m refit of the Etihad Stadium and subsequent City Football Academy for Manchester City Football Club as well as projects for Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City, Fulham and many more.
Iconic venues are also high on the Caterware client agenda with projects undertaken for various museums and venues such as the Cutty Sark at Greenwich.
The company’s purpose-built HQ also incorporates more than 4,000ft2 of showroom space along with a demonstration kitchen where all its catering equipment can be viewed and tested in operation prior to purchase.
Mark anticipates a bright future for Caterware as the UK foodservice market picks up, and with customers looking to expand again, the distributor has all the necessary experience to guide them on their journey. “Our clients like the fact that we are more than big enough to cope but still small enough to care,” he concluded.
