A man has been shot dead during an attempted robbery at a catering supplier’s warehouse in Digbeth, Birmingham.
The Direct Source 3 premises was targeted last night (3 February) just before 6.40pm.
The BBC reports that Akhtar Javeed, who is thought to be a director at Direct Source, was found lying in the road outside the warehouse by police. He was taken to hospital but pronounced dead shortly afterwards. Other staff are thought to have been on the premises at the time of the raid.
Police believe that two masked gunmen were involved in the attempted raid and are currently searching for the suspects.
Direct Source provides catering sundries such as plastic cutlery, food containers and cleaning products to the UK hospitality industry from three nationwide branches.
