Lockhart scores with suppliers at Wembley show

Lockhart Catering Equipment’s annual supplier and customer event took place at Wembley Stadium this week, allowing it to parade some of the best kitchen equipment from its catalogue in the flesh.

The one-day exhibition provides a platform for its main suppliers to demonstrate their products to Lockhart customers as well as sales staff from the company.

This year saw the company team up with sister business Bunzl Catering Supplies, allowing it to run the event over two floors and accommodate almost 60 brands.

Long-term Lockhart partners such as Gram, Hatco, Rational, Falcon, GDPA and Winterhalter provided a heavy duty equipment presence that was balanced out by the array of packaging, tableware and food presentation companies in attendance.

Lockhart also used the event to highlight its variety of own-brand lines, including the new Glacial glassware range.

Graham Kille, managing director at Frima — which was partnering with Adande for the event — said the brand had made some promising contacts during the course of the day.

He told Catering Insight: “It is a decent-sized event and the customers who attend feel it is worthwhile to visit because there is a lot of different equipment and innovation here.

“We’ve had some very good leads from customers in and around the London area, which should create some good opportunities. There have been key people from the contract caterers and London hotels here who have got to see our innovations for the first time. I’m looking forward to next year when I’m sure it will be even bigger and better.”

Glenn Roberts, managing director at Gram, also said the event had been productive from the refrigeration manufacturer’s point of view.

“It’s a good opportunity to support one of our leading and biggest partners in the UK and Ireland, and to see old friends and new colleagues,” he said. “An event like this gives us a chance to share information on new products and help Lockhart’s design team and growing sales force — as well as their key customers — understand the latest developments in the market.”

The annual Wembley exhibition is the sixth that Lockhart has held for customers in the south. It launched a similar event for customers in the north at Old Trafford earlier this year.
