Oldham-based pizza oven specialist Linda Lewis Kitchens (LLK) is taking on an epic food challenge in the name of charity.
Taking place every Friday throughout February, from 11am to 2pm, LLK will be hosting pizza eating challenges with all proceeds going to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice as part of the charity’s ‘£28 for 28-day challenge’.
Inspired by popular TV show ‘Man Vs Food’, the pizza-eating challenges have been specially designed by LLK’s development chef, Fabio. All pizzas will be cooked in a range of ovens in the supplier’s development kitchen where it regularly hosts demonstration days.
One of the tests available for pizza-lovers to tackle is the 50×50” team challenge. Teams of 6-8 must polish off all the pizza in one hour to make it onto the ‘wall of fame’. Challengers can split the pizza into four and choose from margherita, pepperoni, meat feast and vegetable pizzas.
Entry for the 50” challenge is charged at £5.50 per team member with all proceeds going to the Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
The second contest is the 28” solo pizza challenge. Individual contenders are invited to eat a massive 28” pizza and its toppings in just 45 minutes to make it onto the wall of fame.
Challengers can again choose from margherita, pepperoni, meat feast and vegetable pizzas, or they can choose to mix it up with a half and half pizza.
Competitors are required to register for the challenge by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org stating their team name, how many competitors will be taking place and what date and time they wish to compete.
Six team members from LLK are also being sponsored to take part in the 50×50” challenge on the 23 February and will be live streaming their attempt via the firm’s Instagram account.
