LACA 2012 officially opened this morning, with a number of manufacturers and distributors in Birmingham to strengthen their presence in the schools market.
The likes of Gram, Dawson and Court Catering are out in force for the three-day show, which promises access to school caterers and equipment purchasers
The theme for this year’s event is ‘The Taste of Tomorrow’, with members of the Local Authority Caterers Association and other industry stakeholders discussing ways in which school meal providers are adapting to the changes that have affected the service in recent years.
Running alongside LACA is the School Catering Exhibition, which is the only show in the UK which is dedicated to the school meals market.
With pressure to deliver the right meal at the right price — and with the right nutritional values — there is added emphasis this year on equipment that can help education caterers rise to the challenge.
Over 150 exhibitors from the catering equipment market and food and beverage sector are showcasing their products and solutions at the event.
As well seeing equipment in action at a special demonstration zone, visitors will be able to vote for their favourite products and services in the innovation zone.
Tomorrow will see healthy school meals advocate Jamie Oliver deliver a special keynote video message before the show draws to a close on Friday.
