The organisers of Hotelympia have confirmed that a number of major brands will be returning to the show this year, creating an expanded foodservice equipment section packed with new product launches.
Speaking to Catering Insight about what kitchen houses and dealers can expect from this year’s event, Fresh Montgomery’s marketing chief, John Squire, said the volume of new equipment on display would exceed previous shows.
“In terms of the number of equipment suppliers exhibiting at the show, it is around the 250 mark, which is probably going to be more than we had this time two years ago,” he said. “The majority of equipment members at the show are CESA members. There are also a number of new and returning ones this year, including Angelo Po, Frima UK, Foodservice Equipment Marketing, Imperial Catering Equipment and Retigo.”
This year’s event will feature a changed lay-out that should make it easier for visitors to move around the venue, while the introduction of diagonal aisles is designed to create a more interesting interplay between the sections.
“Hotelympia is known for its large-scale attractions and there is a compatibility with the attractions, so putting them on the focal points of the diagonal aisle ways will create a show that looks visually different and is easy to navigate,” he said.
Squire added that he expects energy efficiency and sustainability to emerge as the big themes of the show, particularly in the equipment arena.
“I think a few years ago we used to do separate features on these kinds of areas but these days it is embedded in the industry. Therefore, we try and make less of a song and dance about it, but they will be themes across the board. I guess people are thinking about the Olympics now, but the main element of the show is innovation. It is a hackneyed word but the fact is most people come to a show for new ideas, inspiration and to see the latest products,” he said.
