Maestrowave’s iWave foodservice system is giving patients at two major hospitals a restaurant-style service of hot food options at their bedsides.
iWave operates as a trolley-based stack of refrigeration for pre-prepared meals and a microwave oven for reheating that is already being trialled at St George’s Hospital in Tooting and Christie’s Hospital in Manchester.
iWave not only preserves and serves the ready meals, it also operates a stock management system that simplifies the supply chain for hospitals without the need for highly trained technical staff.
Both systems were supplied by RH Hall and are operated by outsourcing specialist Mitie. They offer Apetito healthcare ready meals served in compartmentalised plastic trays.
“This range has increased our flexibility to deliver a responsive meal service that totally meets the nutritional needs of a number of different patient groups,” said Pat Taylor, dietician for Mitie, which has been using the system at St George’s.
