Italian restaurant’s kitchen goes under the hammer

The entire contents of a Hertfordshire restaurant’s commercial kitchen are due to go under the hammer this week.

Bidders could get their hands on a raft of catering and refrigeration equipment at massively discounted prices when kit from Nolita Restaurant is auctioned off on Thursday 13 June.

Nolita opened for business eight years ago on the Great North Road between Hatfield and Potters Bar, featuring three bars, an outside terrace area, banqueting function room and fully equipped commercial kitchen.

Cooking equipment being auctioned off includes a Blue Seal Cobra six burner range and oven, Mareno gas fryer, pasta cooker and bain marie, a Falcon chargrill broiler and Fage twin-deck pizza ovens.

There are around a dozen items of stainless steel fabrication, including shelves and cupboards, as well as the main extraction canopy and hood with eight filter baffles.

Most of the merchandising and back bar refrigeration is from Infrico, but there are also Foster counter preparation units, a Williams reach-in meat refrigerator and an Osbourne bottle cooler.

Other equipment includes a Maidaid glasswasher, Hoshizaki ice maker and a Brasilia Gradisca three-group coffee machine.

The auction takes place online with lots closing from 2pm. Parties wishing to inspect the equipment can do so the day before or on the morning of the sale.

“The auction is targeted towards other operators but a lot of times, when a restaurant closes, customers don’t get an opportunity to say goodbye,” said Simon Rose, part of the Pro Auction team leading the sale. “By way of the auction many of the people who dined there over the years and admired the Nolita get a chance to bid on items and buy a piece of its history.”

As well as all the catering equipment, the auctioneers are hoping to get rid of the Italian-designed furniture and general contents of the restaurant operation.
