Irish eyes smile for Hotelympia organiser

Fresh Montgomery, the company behind Hotelympia, has purchased two food and hospitality events, IFEX and SHOP, from European exhibition group easyFairs.

IFEX is a biennial event serving the foodservice and hospitality industry, which takes place every other April in Belfast. SHOP is an annual event, which takes place each September at The RDS Dublin.

“We have enjoyed running these Irish shows for several years and we are delighted that they have found a great new home with a specialist food and drink exhibition organiser,” said Matt Benyon, managing director for easyFairs UK & Ireland.

“The divestment will enable us to focus our efforts on our home-grown portfolio together with recently acquired brands in new territories such as North America and Asia,” he adds.

Both exhibitions will be run by Fresh Montgomery, with Montgomery’s Irish Services business assuming operational control of SHOP from its Dublin base, with IFEX run out of the Fresh Montgomery Belfast and London offices.

Caroline McGuiness is transferring to the Fresh Montgomery business with the sale and will lead the sales operations on both exhibitions.

Toby Wand, managing director of Fresh Montgomery, pledged to pump further investment into the events to make them more appealing to exhibitors and visitors.

“This move demonstrates our commitment to the long term, and we look forward to strengthening the events foothold as the market-leading food and drink exhibitions in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland,” he said.
