Hopkins Catering Equipment and four other Leeds-based firms are opening their doors to aspiring industrial photographers, thanks to manufacturers’ organisation EEF.
The trade body’s annual Manufacturing Photography Competition this year has a theme of “capturing the bright future of British Manufacturing and championing the next generation of talent and technology in the sector”.
There are four categories for photographers to enter: Next Generation, Future Technology, Manufacturing Process and Manufacturing Product. The competition is free to enter and open to young, amateur and professional photographers alike.
Winning photographers will get their hands on a share of a £5,000 prize fund and be in with the chance of having their photos on display in the national and local media.
The competition closes on 30 September, with winners announced at an awards event in London in November.
As well as Hopkins, other Leeds businesses offering their premises as photographic scenes are printing business Northern Flags, air handling equipment manufacturer Sovereign Air Movement, medical device manufacturer Brandon Medical and electronics manufacturer Daletech Electronics.
EEF’s membership engagement director, north, Richard Halstead, said: “This competition shines a light on forward-looking and innovative companies. We are delighted that these businesses are opening their doors to local photographers, who can tell the story of UK manufacturing success by capturing images of technology, people and innovation in industry.”
While EEF CEO Stephen Phipson added: “The Manufacturing Photography competition celebrates the people and the products that help make manufacturing the beating heart of the UK economy. I wish all the photographers that enter the competition the best of luck and cannot wait to see the entries when they go on display at the awards event later in the year.”
