IMC’s new WasteStation food macerator has been crowned the most sustainable piece of kit at an international foodservice exhibition taking place this week.
The UK-built product landed the coveted ‘Best Sustainable Catering Equipment Innovation’ award at the popular Gulfood exhibition underway in Dubai, with its victory being revealed at a special gala dinner last night.
IMC’s managing director, Steve Witt, and export sales manager, John Brinkman, were on hand to accept the prize.
The sustainable equipment award is presented to the company that has shown innovation and excellence in the development, marketing and launch of new kitchen equipment.
The category takes into account any kit that is proven to provide commercial significance and benefits to the food and beverage industry by offering energy, waste, water and labour saving features.
IMC has just officially launched the WasteStation in the UK. It forces out the excess liquid in food waste to reduce the volume by up to 80% and the mass by up to 60%.
The sustainability award was one of four equipment-based categories in the Gulfood Awards.
MKN’s FlexiCombi won ‘Best Heavy Equipment Innovation’, while the PacoJet 2 won the Light Equipment equivalent. The ‘Best New Catering Equipment Innovation’ went to the supplier of the ‘Baby Jaws’ undercounter bottle breaker.
