First Choice welcomes new commercial manager

First Choice MD John Whitehouse greets new commercial manager, Steven McLaren.

First Choice Group has expanded its senior leadership team with the addition of Steven McLaren as commercial manager.

He has joined the spare parts supplier to develop key manufacturer partnerships and oversee the purchasing department.

McLaren comes from a longstanding career in the automotive industry, bringing over 22 years of commercial experience in the automotive OEM environment – most recently working with Samsung SDI in the area of vehicle electrification.

He said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have joined the First Choice Group and I am looking forward to using my knowledge and experience gained over a career in the automotive sector to further enhance our offering to our manufacturer partners, allowing us to be their parts solution provider of choice.”

First Choice Group supplies only original parts from its OEM partners, and currently holds a number of master distribution agreements with equipment manufacturers such as MKN and Ambach.

McClaren added: “Our aim at First Choice Group is to help promote the manufacturer and their brand. We want to help protect the manufacturer’s brand value and respect the hard work they have carried out to design, engineer and test their original equipment by supplying only original spare parts.

“I am very excited to be joining the UK’s number one spare part supplier in our sector – we have the best team, the best technology, the best vision and vitally, the best OEM spare part stock in the country.”

First Choice Group employs a workforce of over 160 staff members at its site in Cannock, which also houses its 70,000ft2 warehouse. The company will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year.

John Whitehouse, MD at First Choice Group, said: “Steven’s background and manufacturer experience within the automotive industry will be an asset within our sector.

“He will join us at the highest level, sitting on our senior leadership team, and have control of our manufacturer relationships and management responsibility for our purchasing department.”
